I married one of the most detail oriented women on the planet. Couple that with her passion for exceeding expectations and you have a powerhouse in one person.

Especially when it comes to parties. Everybody wants a Kara Hand level party.

She plans every detail. Amazon boxes arrive for weeks. she draws out the floorplan, we stage the transport. I consider myself the support staff, and I am happy to do it. Because what she does makes everyone happy.

But here’s the deal: She is always seeing that she could have done more.

Even though her half-way is everyone else’s 100%.

It is this way in her service to her clients, always looking for ways to ensure they have the best experience, and in her parties, like the Disco party we are throwing today for our daughter’s 9th birthday. She always sees a way to “plus it up.” Her good enough is your over the top.

Instead of trying to lower our expectations, my goal is to get the reality as close to her vision as possible. (That is what I do for my clients too.)

So my challenge to you today is this: Like Kara, focus on a vision that exceeds expectations and then pursue it.

When you have done something, take a step back, and then do one or two plus-ups. Increase your 100%.

Haunted Mansion at the Hand House

Speaking of over the top. When we moved into our house, I decided I wanted to be the full size candy bar house in the neighborhood. So I am.

Last year I decided I wanted to do more, so I designed a walk through in our driveway themed to Disney’s Haunted Mansion. I was happy with the outcome, but this year I have added even more elements.

So if you are in the area, please come on by either Monday the 30th or Halloween the 31st and enjoy the walk through. It is my gift to you and the neighborhood. That and the full size candy bars.
