Blow Up the Box Chronicles
Capitol Resources Comes to North Carolina
Last week was a busy week in North Carolina. Not only did early voting for the 2024 primary begin - but we also announced a new partnership with Capitol Resources. Read the full release here.
Over the past 18 months, I have built a two-stream firm - Fractional General Counsel and lobbying. Both are running well. Last summer I was introduced to this dynamic, innovative regional firm that focuses on lobbying and crisis management. We had a few conversations that left me curious about how to bring them to North Carolina.
In November I attended their staff retreat - and I was blown away. They lead a team of professionals in exactly the manner I advise my clients. It was clear during the retreat that this was a legitimate, hard-working shop that was also a good fit for my work.
And so my lobbying work is moving under the Capitol Resources brand and we are going full force in being a part of this regional powerhouse. I could not be more excited.
Why does this matter? Your business is only as successful as the government allows, but you do not have the bandwidth to pay attention to every piece of legislation that comes up. That is where we come in. We keep bad stuff from happening to good people, and we make good things happen for great people.
Status Quo and I Are Not Friends
3 reasons why you, too, should break up with it.
1. Leaving everything as-is favors mediocrity. Sure - take some time to enjoy something that is the result of hard work. Bask in the glory of your vision coming to life. Then start to question it - and start improving on it.
2. Your people deserve the best. They may think today is the best, but soon enough they will start to look around. That is what we do - we find the joy in awesome and then we move on once the awesome has become the standard.
3. Your competition's starting point is where you are today. They will improve upon your work rather than start from scratch. The guy at the top only stays at the top until the other guy builds higher. The other guy always builds higher.
SO - you take a moment to rest and enjoy your awesomeness but don't get all wrapped up in it to wake up one day and realize that your awesomeness has degraded into complacency.
