It has been a week of catching up. Last week’s trade show was an amazing experience (recap below) followed by a short work week, a great Thanksgiving, and the appearance of a few of the Christmas trees earlier than usual.

The hustle has already started

The hustle that is the holiday sales intended to lure you into buying more stuff.

The hustle that is the business of a season. We have no free weekends between now and Christmas. Between our youngest dancing in multiple parades to our oldest having a couple of solos in the Christmas concert. We. Are. Busy.

So how do we enjoy the holidays? How do we pause and remember the spirit of Advent?

Well - our goal is to be in the moment of each one. It isn’t always effective, but if we can put down our calendars and our devices, we can enjoy the moment we are in. Each parade is an amazing experience because our youngest daughter is GOOD! She can dance AND Look good at it. Our oldest daughter has an amazing voice and she can SING! She can sing AND look good at it!

Embrace the hustle. It isn’t going away. But in the midst of it, stop and enjoy the moment. The sites, the sounds, the smells, the tastes, and the talent.

IAAPA Recap

The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) global expo in Orlando last week was - for lack of a better word - EPIC! Last year, when I was just a last-minute attendee, I was overwhelmed. There are 40,000+ people and over 1000 suppliers.

This year I chose to be one of those suppliers, and it did not disappoint. Why would a fractional general counsel and lobbyist exhibit at a trade show for the attractions industry? Because every HOUR someone approached me and said “I need you!” and we discussed the future.

It was one of those weeks where I had that confirmation at least once a minute: This is exactly where I was supposed to be this week.

I want to thank my good friend Mark Boomgaarden for taking a week away from life to work the booth with me. Mark made the week EPIC+!

If you are ever on the outside of something you want to be in, take the leap and go inside. Don’t wait one more day.
