Where Are You Going?
Find Your True North
The Hand family are lovers of travel. We get out of town often and have spent more than our fair share out of town. When we leave, we always know where we are going, and I am too neurotic to not have every day planned out. The goal: make epic memories!
Hand Family Travelers
So, imagine you're about to go on a really big trip, like a long car ride or a hike in the woods. Before you go, it's a good idea to figure out which direction you need to go in to get to where you want to go, right?
Well, in business, it's kind of like that too! People have goals and things they want to achieve, just like you might have a destination you want to get to on your trip.
But sometimes it can be hard to figure out which direction to go in to reach those goals. That's where "True North" comes in. Every organization needs to find its True North before it goes any further.
"True North" is like a compass that helps you figure out which way to go to reach your goals. It means figuring out what's really important to you and what you really want to achieve. It tells your employees how their work feeds into a larger purpose.
Just like how a compass helps you find your way in the woods, figuring out your "True North" can help you find your way in life. It can help you make good choices and stay on track to reach your goals, even when things get tough or you're not sure what to do.
I work with many leaders on their strategic planning. For those that haven’t identified their True North, that is where we start. You cannot map your course if you have not identified the destination.
DO THIS: Set aside half an hour today. Clear your calendar, put all technology in another room (including your phone - it’ll be ok!), and let your mind roam with the purpose of seeing where you want to be in five years. Do it every day until you find that one thing that appeals to you. Then write it down. You are one step closer to your True North.

Blow Up The Box!
What does it mean to "blow up the box" and why do I have this as my line?
Well after years of hearing "think outside of the box" or "maybe our box needs to be bigger" I got tired, and so when I started my own firm - a business built on providing the best experience possible for all involved, including those on the other side of the table - I decided to challenge the very notion of the box.
Challenging tradition, or blowing up the box, does not mean both are abandoned. It means that, in everything we do, we have to first analyze if it is still working or if there is something better.
Traditions are good. Classic legal practice is good. But sometimes the good needs to become good memories in favor of the great.
Your problem is that you don't have anyone with the bandwidth to do this full-scale analysis. That is where I come in.
So join me as we build something better!
