You Need A Tim in Your Life
Don't Even Try To Go It Alone!
Dr. Tim Luckadoo has been my neighbor for almost seven years. My first encounter with him was when I pulled into my new driveway in 2019 and found Tim blowing it off. I have a long driveway. He blows it off every time he blows his.
Because that is who Tim is.
He and his late wife Deb welcomed us into the neighborhood with more than open arms. As a dad of two daughters, he has listened to this dad of two daughters on many a day. His responses are never "You should" but rather "This is what I did."
We returned home from a family vacation and I found this amazing (and well done) rock drain had been installed next to my driveway. Tim had noticed that the rainwater was ponding there. (I had also noticed, but hadn't devised a solution.) While we were away, Tim dug and installed this drain. Mind you, it was August. And now the water drains onto Tim's property. My problem was solved, again, by Tim's generosity. We shared many a meal with Deb and Tim, and Tim has continued to share them since Deb's devastating passing, carrying on their legacy of generosity and compassion. | ![]() |
When it came time to write my book Feed Your Team, Tim was the first person to offer to edit it. Tim is also a retired university dean who teaches me something with every encounter. I was nervous turning my passion over for scrutiny. It is one thing to throw it out onto the market and ignore the comments. It is entirely another to hand it to an academic.
My fear was "This is rubbish," while my reality became "This is a really good book. There are some items you need to work on, 42 typos to correct, and the last chapter needs at least three more pages."
My book IS good, and it is better because Dr. Tim Luckadoo poured his time into it twice. That is why (without asking) I named him as an editor in the credits.
Every time I pass this small storm drain, I am reminded of Tim, which reminds me that there are still good people around us who do things because they are good people.
P.S. Tim has offered to proof my newsletters, but I thought it would be awkward for the first proof to be this one. So forgive all the glaring typos.
Make Feed Your Team a Bestseller!
![]() | My new book “Feed Your Team” launches September 15, 2026. Here is a quick sample from Chapter 2: "I can still remember how heavy that first year felt. Every meeting was tense, every deadline a test. I overcorrected constantly, swinging between micromanaging and retreating altogether. My confidence eroded with each misstep. Leadership books talked about vision and strategy, with great guidance on building a team from the ground up, but none of them told me how to rebuild a fractured team (that I had fractured!) that didn't trust me or one another. It wasn't just a management challenge; it was a human one." How I got out of that hole started with a pan of lasagna. Pre-order Feed Your Team to get the whole story. |
